In Luke 8:22-25 I believe what Jesus is really trying to get across is not about a display of His power over the sea's raging, but rather the lack of faith shown by the boat's passengers in their inability to simply enjoy the chaos of the storm as it's happening by showing full faith in God's plan, no matter how steep the challenge; calm seas alone feel a boring life indeed.
